We were approached on behalf of a design agency to build a mobile application for Birmingham Youth Service. The brief was to create an App that allowed staff to produce surveys that could be used to get feedback and insight from their service users.
The requirements included being able to create surveys using multiple question types, sliding scales, and video/audio answers. The system needed to automatically generate reports in an easy to digest format with geolocate and transcribe features.
A PWA was chosen over a native application, as it delivered a quicker launch and less ongoing maintenance costs vs the cost of developing and maintaining native applications for different mobile platforms.
Working closely with the client we helped plan the technical and functional requirements, produced a wireframe and interactive prototype of the application.
We then built the PWA site using Ionic, the backend system and authentication with advanced roles and permissions was created. The backend application also provides a reporting system with visual PDF generation.
This app has given us the opportunity to collect the views and thoughts of young people around the city. We've found it very easy to use and new features have been added that we needed
The new application launched across the service with great feedback from users and staff alike.
Staff promoted and talked about the App on Free Radio and this has since been rolled out to other departments to gain insight for a wide range of applications.
